Georges St. Pierre medically cleared to fight Carlos Condit at UFC 154 on Nov. 17 in Montreal

Great news for mixed martial arts (MMA) fans worldwide.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre has been medically cleared to return to competition, which puts him in line to defend his 170-pound title against Interim ChampionCarlos Condit at the UFC 154 pay-per-view event scheduled for the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Nov. 17, 2012.
"Rush" tweets:
I'm now medically cleared to compete in professional mixed martial arts events- Rendez-vous le 17 novembre, @UFC 154, Montréal!!! Special thanks to Dr. ElAttrache & Heather at @KerlanJobe, Gavin at @sportsciencelab & all of you great fans for the amazing support.
Despite his surgically-repaired knee and extended layoff, St. Pierre still opened as the odds-on favorite at -350 for UFC 154, while Condit limped in as the +265 underdog.
The Canadian kingpin hasn't seen the inside of the Octagon since his five round dance against Jake Shields at UFC 129 back in April 2011. During his time away from the sport, he was able to reassess his fighting style and has since promised more exciting fights with more finishes.
No time like the present.
Condit, who holds the division's Interim strap thanks to a close unanimous decision against Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 143 earlier this year, is already training for his Montreal showdown and hopes to be the first fighter since Matt Serra to take down the champ.
We shall see.
